Fast Fact Center

My student’s favorite center this week has been our fast fact center.  I let 100_7340my students make their own flash cards this week with index cards I had laying around.  Then, we put the flash cards in a little red tub and added a timer set to one minute.  Students race to see how many they can get correct in one minute.  It’s been so popular this week that more people asked to go there than to the computer!  Why is it so popular?  Well, in addition to being fun, my kids are ultra competitive and they are racing to get 10 stars.  Every day, my students take one minute addition quizzes and if they get 100% they get to color a star.  When they get to 10 stars they get a certificate and a 100_7216candy.  When we talked about this center helping them to get stars – it quickly became the favorite center of the week!
