Main Idea and Norman Rockwell

Want a new way to teach main idea?  This is an arts integrated lesson that teaches both main idea and information about Norman Rockwell.  If you haven't taught an arts integrated lesson before, that's ok.  Everything you need is included in the lesson.  After the mini lesson on main idea, there are several pages that contain a painting by Rockwell.  Students identify details in the painting to discover the main idea.  Once they think they have the main idea, they move the magnifying glass to discover what Rockwell titled the painting.  Painting titles are usually the main idea.  Have fun teaching main idea with your students!  You can download the smart board file HERE.
