My 3rd graders loved writing persuasive letters to the principal with this project. Since my students were always talking about field trips and the city they wanted to go, I let them write about the places we should be allowed to go on a field trip. Some of my favorite essays were the ones where they tried to convince the principal that we should go to Orlando, because Disneyland would really be educational!
