How to Teach A Slug to Read printable
Have you read this book yet? It's called How to Teach a Slug to Read, and it's a delightful story about a mother slug teaching her child to read. She uses real strategies, like showing your slug the words that repeat a lot, labeling items around your home, and finding books your slug really likes. She mixes those with slug-appropriate techniques, like putting the book close to the ground.
I think you'll enjoy sharing this colorful and engaging book with your students in kindergarten, first, and maybe even second grade. I've created a free printable to extend the learning from this title.
This is a great way to start off your school year by celebrating the joys of reading and talking about specific reading strategies. Grab your free printable here!
And happy reading!
I'm an elementary school librarian in Texas who spends every day striving to help my students love to read and learn. I have three wonderful sons and a pound puppy named Pinto. In my spare time, if I'm not blogging or working on school stuff or writing, I read!
