Reading Genre Cards

I am starting the 40 Book Reading Challenge with my Grade 3 class but of course needed to teach the various reading genres with my students. I started off with a quick introduction and then let my students go to sort a bunch of books that had been pulled by the librarian at my school. 

Then we discussed how they sorted the books and what the elements of the different genres are. We are getting closer to starting the 40 Book Challenge and I will have some more freebies coming along. For now though, I have the genre cards I used to introduce the genres to my students.
