I don't know about you, but my first week of teaching is usually the craziest (zoo level crazy) so I could use all the help I could get to make it go smoothly. Here's a great reading comprehension freebie to start the day (or the week) returning to school. It includes a fun school riddle for the kids to solve! Great for grades 1-2.

There is a black and white version which is simpler and doesn't include the riddle (but you could always print out that top one in black and white. :)
The second page includes some language arts practice (print it back to back) and get the students to enjoy working on it together!
