"I believe a parent is a child's first and best teacher." This is the first sentence in the first letter I send home to parents asking them for information about their child. I tend to have great relationships with my students' parents and that spills over into the relationships I have with my students.
Even when parent child relationships are strained, most parents want to know their child's teacher likes them, and most children want to know their teacher accepts their parents.
