The first week in December is Computer Science in Education Week. Kids around the world participate in the Hour of Code around this time. The Hour of Code is an opportunity for every student to try computer science for one hour. In my library we do Hour of Code activities for two weeks because our class periods are only 30 minutes.
You can find great resources and support at the following websites:
If you do Hour of Code, or you'd like to try it, stop by the Trapped Librarian Teachers Pay Teachers store to pick up a freebie to help you out. Help your students extend their Hour of Code by sending home the bookmarks, and see how I implemented this event in my library.
The Hour of Code is an engaging problem solving activity for students. You may just want to make your Hour of Code last year round!
