The Power of One Teacher... Like You!

Have you heard about this wonderful post called "Why I Hated Meredith's First Grade Teacher: An Open Letter to America's Teachers"?  Don't get riled up or discouraged by the title! This is a tribute that will encourage you, and quite likely bring you to tears.

It was written by Kylene Beers, who is an author for Heinemann and a past president of NCTE. The writing is exquisite and very moving. You might want to take some time to read the comments, too. This is a great post to read as school is beginning, but its also a treasure to tuck away for a time that you need a reminder of the influence you have over the life of each and every child that you are privileged to teach.
