When I was younger, I always struggled between the two division terms, divisor and dividend. It was a real struggle. I wasn't sure I was ever going to get them right - and to know how to covert that fraction into a house like figure. I had no clue which number went inside the box and which was outside. It was defeating.
Being older, I know them now, but I had to use a strategy to help me remember. Each year when I teach multiplication and division, I always make sure that I teach this- incase there is someone in the classroom just like I was.
